Catch the elusive Bigfoot on his stomping grounds
In 1958, what turned out to be a hoax in California expedited the legend of Bigfoot across the United States. Since then, there have been rumors about Bigfoot sightings in Uwharrie National Forest. But could it be true? The term “sasquatch” was originally coined by a group of Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest and outdates even the settlement of the British. It typically describes a 6- to 8-foot-tall creature with a pronounced brow, covered in brown or red hair with enormous feet. The story says that when word of North Carolina barbeque began traveling west, Bigfoot headed east. Bigfoot has been sighted now and again across the country, but one of the creatures has never truly been revealed. In April 2017, the “Uwharrie Edition Jeep” was unveiled, named for the Uwharrie Off Road Training Center as well as the looseness and fun the forest exudes. Since then, visitors to Uwharrie National Forest say they’ve seen signs of a sasquatch-like creature lurking. Could this off-roader be what brings Bigfoot back on-road and out from under cover?
