Find a one-of-a-kind animal on a 1910 Carousel
Take the kids for a ride on the historical treasure that is the Burlington City Park Carousel, one of only 14 remaining Dentzel Menagerie Carousels in the world. Choose from one of the 46 unique, hand-carved, wooden animals including horses, cats, ostriches, rabbits, pigs, deer, giraffes, lions and tigers. Based on markings from a variety of carousel parts, the carousel was built sometime between 1906 and 1910 at the Dentzel Carousel Company in Philadelphia, and was purchased by the City of Burlington in 1948 from an amusement park in Ohio. In September, the carousel is the spotlight of the Carousel Festival, a two-day event featuring live music, art, antiques, food and outdoor fun. Extend your trip a few days in nearby Greensboro for more shopping and outdoor activities such as walking trails and greenways.
