Enjoy Denim Days in the former "Denim Capital of the World"
During the first weekend in October, people in Erwin, outside Fayetteville, don their best pair of blue jeans for Denim Days. The fall festival pays homage to the town’s history when Erwin was known as the “Denim Capital of the World.” For nearly 100 years, Erwin Cotton Mill made denim cloth and business boomed in the small town. The mill was the driving commercial force until it closed in 2000. Now you can visit the museum downtown to go back to a time when the town was named Duke and explore its mill village heritage.
