Spend the night in Dorothy’s house at the Land of Oz
Fans of The Wizard of Oz can have the once-in-a-lifetime experience of spending the night in Dorothy’s house, not in Kansas, but in the town of Beech Mountain in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountain High Country. Dorothy’s farmhouse was part of The Land of Oz, a theme park open from 1970 to 1980 that is now part of a residential development and Beech Mountain Ski Resort. Dorothy’s farmhouse is patterned after the house in the movie and has three bedrooms with an antique kitchen and parlor. Guests can still see many of the sites of the old theme park including the Yellow Brick Road. Private gatherings and tours of the park’s sites are available and the theme park is revisited each year for the Autumn at Oz event. Plan a visit to Journey with Dorothy in June to take a walk down the yellow brick road with the best tour guide in Oz.
