Ride the Intimidator
Visitors to North Carolina may not be able to drive a race car the way NASCAR legend and North Carolina native Dale Earnhardt did, but ever since the Intimidator opened at Carowinds in Charlotte, they can get the thrill of riding along in the famous No. 3 car. The Intimidator is one of the tallest, fastest, longest rollercoasters in the Southeast and was named the Top New U.S. Coaster of 2010 by the Coaster Critic. The ride is complete with a Winner’s Circle, Victory Lane, Wall of Fame tribute to Dale and a replica of Dale’s No. 3 Monte Carlo. North Carolina is the heart of NASCAR country and Earnhardt’s racing legacy is celebrated throughout the region including a Minor League Baseball team that bears his infamous nickname. The Intimidator ride is just one at the Charlotte theme park, which features more than 50 rides, shows and attractions as well as a Planet Snoopy children’s area and Carolina Harbor water park that opened in May 2016.
